Nokia Struggles to Gain Its Market Control by Using Symbian 3 OS for Its New Smartphone N8
Nokia once had a strong market control. However, as Apple and RIM got more market control and better products, Nokia started losing its hold. Now it seems that it has spent some time reviewing its product as it is coming with a new smartphone called N8. The information regarding the smartphone was leaked just before its launch.
N8 would be the first phone to use the new Symbian 3 OS. Symbian OS has not been very popular with users in past. However, this new version is said to be much better as it allows multitouch and multitasking. You can even customize your home screen.
It is expected that with gaining Symbian 3, OS Nokia will be able to start over. N8 in itself is a good phone with a 12MP camera with Xenon flash and a great battery life. It even has 16GB of memory. It is a nice looking phone and is priced very reasonably at 370.
Nokia is not expecting to turn Apple and RIM out of business with this phone as they have many high end products with more features than N8. Further, N8 will have to convince people to overlook the scepticism against the prevision versions of the Symbian OS. Nokia does believe that it will be a step towards getting its market share back. The phone will be brought to the market in autumn of this year.
